Footware Aficionado Cover

I did this for my GD 1 class. The assignment was to create a magazine cover, so I chose Footware Aficionado, as I really enjoy their art direction. (c) Abby Boeh 2009

Thanks to Nick Iluzada for all his input.

Go Green!

This was my submission for the (mandatory) poster competition put on by the MICA Illustration Department and the Baltimore Office of Sustainability. It was supposed to evoke the spirit of Baltimore and show that everything you do to help the environment benefits everyone in tons of ways! I personally try to recycle things and turn off the lights and whatnot. If it saves me money, why not!

Anywho, I missed cartooning hella lots, so I was pretty fond of this poster, and though it didn't win anything, my pal Nick Iluzada did, and my bfffff Cailin Nealon got runner up! Swell!

THE FLANNEL GHOST: HIPSTER SUPERHERO

YES! Props to my girl Sam for this great idea!

...

Some work from this semester.

These images are from my Concepts I class with Allan Comport.

An editorial piece for the novel Inherent Vice by Thomas Pynchon. I did it in gouache and the colors got a little weird and then I tried to fiddle with the levels in Photoshop and... well, you know. Shrug. Freakin' Daniel Krall's piece totally blows the ones from our Concepts I class out of the water. Sigh.

A piece to go with an article about wines for different occasions to go with a pamphlet for the movie Sideways. Apparently there are appropriate wines for doing exercise. Who knew?

These are from my Eros class with Jose Villarrubia.

A piece to go with this article from Savage Love, a sex advice column.

A piece involving romance. What's more romantic than football players in locker rooms?

A poster for our school's guest speaker Annie Sprinkle. The print one has red glitter on the nipple tassels. :)

Lastly, a pinup of Wonder Woman. Yeah!

LOVE IS OVER

Soooooo. This is what I turn in for grades. What is wrong with me.

This was for Allan Comport's Illustration Concepts I class. The assignment was to illustrate the word "killjoy." So obvious first idea was killing unicorns? I don't know.

Fashion.Heroes

SOME STUFF!!! I got really excited by Project Rooftop and Jemma Salume this summer when I had some free time, so I decided to try my hand at it. Also I reread Paradise Kiss by Ai Yazawa and wanted so badly to draw fashion things. Therefore this post is happening.
Sketch for Wonder Woman which I plan to finish one day. Obligatory Sailor Moon.
Power Girl Vampirella, girl Robin, and Wolverbean. Supes!

From the JCrew catalogue.

So there you have it!

Scooby Gang Redesigns

I was being a TA for Greg Houston (http://greghoustonillustration.com) who is a badass, at MICA's Pre-College program, and one of the assignments was to redesign a classic team of four into a pro-wrestling team. I got really excited and decided to try the assignment out, but I got so wrapped up in redesigning the characters that the whole pro-wrestling bit went out the window.

Fred and Daph are the worst. I mean, just look at them. The worst.

So I also re-watched the live-action Scooby Doo movie (the first one, which is awesome btw) and Fred says the EXACT WORDS of this picture above to Velma. I secretly am totally rooting for them to get together because Daphne is kind of useless anyway. All in all I really REALLY love drawing Fred. A lot. Too much, maybe.
